What is a hospitalist?
A hospitalist is a physician whose primary responsibility is to coordinate your care while you are in the hospital. Hospitalists develop treatment and discharge plans for your child to ensure a smooth transition from hospital to home. Hospitalists work with various specialists, surgeons, nurses, rehabilitation therapists and others to coordinate complete patient care. A hospitalist also maintains open communication with a patient’s referring or primary care physician.
Our hospitalists are all pediatric-trained specialists. At the start of your child’s hospitalization, a hospitalist will obtain relevant medical information from your primary care physician, and review records from your child’s past medical history. The hospitalist will meet with you to discuss treatment options and any concerns you may have.
