CEO, Niswonger Children's Hospital
As the Chief Executive Officer of Niswonger Children’s Hospital, Lisa Carter is responsible for strategic planning for growth and development, as well as daily operations of the hospital, and regional activities for children’s healthcare. She is deeply involved in recruiting new physician talent to broaden the spectrum of pediatric specialty services, and with fundraising projects and initiatives. Prior to this role, Lisa served as the Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for Niswonger Children’s Hospital and the Johnson City Medical Center, where she was responsible for clinical operations, and emergency services, as well as strategic growth for Niswonger Children’s Hospital. She managed the trauma program, cardiovascular services and oncology services. During her tenure, the hospital achieved a 99th percentile rating in patient satisfaction for the Johnson City Medical Center Family Birth Center, and for the pediatric emergency department. Lisa has also served as the Chief Nursing Officer and Assistant Administrator for Niswonger Children’s Hospital, and the Director of Patient Care Services for Niswonger Children’s Hospital and the Johnson City Medical Center. She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Tennessee Technological University, and her Master of Science in nursing from East Tennessee State University. She is a board certified Nurse Executive, and is currently completing her PhD in nursing at East Tennessee State University.
